Event Name: Core Training Day 1 – The Practice In Context Event details: Core Day 1 is a seven and a half hour, values-based course specifically designed for staff new to the Richmond Society for Community Living. However, it is mandatory training for all RSCL staff and as a result, all senior staff are also expected to register. The course is intended to assist participants in: - Understanding the impact of values, both individual and societal, in the human services field. - Understanding the impact of history on current social attitudes and policies. - Exploring issues of social justice & diversity. - Understanding the impact of the history of service delivery & societal attitudes on the past, present, and future of people living with a disability. - Gaining experience in reflecting upon the impact of one’s own personal values and beliefs on the individual’s we support and in identifying criteria of exemplary practice.
Who can/should attend the event: Mandatory for all RSCL staff. Families and Caregivers interested in the topic are welcome to attend.
Registration information: Staff should complete a Request to Attend Workshop form, have it signed by their supervisor and submit it to Jan at Head Office. Families and Caregivers need simply phone Jan @ 604-279-7040.
