On behalf of Richmond Society for Community Living Board of Directors and our dedicated staff team, I am announcing the resignation of our Executive Director Janice Barr. For more than two decades, Janice has worked tirelessly on behalf of our organization to lead a team to deliver programs and services that are responsive to the needs of the individuals supported and to their families.
RSCL is well recognized in the Richmond community for our innovative programs and services that celebrate the unique gifts of the people that we serve and support their inclusion as valued members of the community. The organization, under Janice’s stewardship, is also recognized across the community living sector as a leader. She has led an exemplary organization that provides excellent services and supports not only to individuals and families served, but also to our employees. Her commitment to excellence extends far beyond the organization that she leads.
I know you will join me in wishing Janice well as she takes on new professional challenges as the CEO of Community Living Society (CLS) which has been providing supports for people with developmental disabilities and acquired brain injuries since the early 1970s. CLS delivers services broadly across Metro Vancouver and we look forward to working with Janice in her new role on many important projects which will benefit the sector as a whole.
During her time at RSCL, Janice has demonstrated her commitment to developing leaders of tomorrow within the organization. We are grateful to Janice for her many contributions to RSCL, particularly the strong leadership team that she has developed. I am confident that Janice leaves a legacy that is strong, vibrant and well positioned to continue to deliver the innovative services that make RSCL exceptional.
RSCL will begin a search for a new Executive Director immediately. Our Director of Community Supports, Shannon Crofton, will assume the role of interim Executive Director beginning on January 6, 2020. In the coming months, our leadership team will develop a transition plan to ensure the continuation of quality service delivery and management for all programs.
Melanie Arnis, RSCL Board President
